Sponge city is a new generation of urban rainwater and flood management concept. It refers to that the city has good "elasticity" in adapting to environmental changes and dealing with natural disasters brought by rainwater. It can also be called "water elastic city". The international term is "low impact development rainwater system construction". Water absorption, storage, seepage and purification in case of rain, and "release" and use the stored water when necessary. Its core is to keep the hydrological characteristics unchanged before and after site development, including total runoff, peak flow, peak time, etc. From the perspective of hydrological cycle, in order to maintain the total amount of runoff unchanged, it is necessary to adopt infiltration, storage and other methods to realize that a certain amount of runoff will not be discharged after development; To maintain the peak flow unchanged, measures such as infiltration, storage and regulation should be taken to reduce the peak and delay the peak time.

Concave green space

The greening of the ground and basement roof of the project adopts the concave green space design, and its greening elevation is 0.1 ~ 0.2m lower than that of the road. Rainwater can be effectively accumulated during rainfall. The concave green space is provided with an overflow port, and the rainwater that cannot be accumulated enters the rainwater pipe network of the site through the overflow port.

Ecological tree pond

The soil covering elevation of arbor planting in the project can be reduced to make it have rainwater storage capacity. The planting soil surface shall be provided with permeable cover plate to avoid soil loss caused by rainwater scouring.

Rain garden

The structure of rainwater garden is simple, which can generally ensure that the rainwater exceeding its design capacity can be discharged in time; The rainwater garden can flow out the excess rainwater around. Generally, there is no need for a special overflow device. When the location is not easy to directly discharge the excess rainwater, a simple overflow device can be set.

Curb at opening

If kerbs are required to be set on both sides of the green belt, the opening design shall be interrupted to ensure that the rainwater on the road can flow into the green belt by gravity.
